REGULATIONS FOR THE SMOOTH RUNNING OF THE SKIKJÖRING 2025

In order to guarantee a smooth process and to make the Skikjöring unforgettable again, there are special regulations for the . discipline

It has been more than a century since some athletes developed a new discipline of horse racing in the Engadin. Constantly further developed and optimized, the Skikjöring in the White Turf represents a worldwide rarity to this day. It is truly spectacular how the drivers are pulled by their thoroughbred racehorses on skis. As with any gallop race, the participants start together – driver against driver, horse against horse.

The pictures of the Skikjöring go around the world every year and contribute to the immense level of awareness of the White Turf. Sensationally beautiful scenes are shown when the courageous drivers complete the 2700 meter- course behind their fast horses. This happens under a mostly clear, blue sky in the most wonderful winter weather in the deep snowy alpine landscape.

In order to guarantee a smooth process and to make the Skikjöring unforgettable again, there are special provisions relating to the discipline. Areas such as license examinations, the inspection of horses, drivers and horse handlers and the delivery of harnesses are regulated. General driver information is also included.
